Mid-Term General Election Results For Area Counties

WAYNE – From early online and in-person voting as well as those who visited the polling places Tuesday, voter turnout nationwide was on the rise and locally for Wayne County residents where 3,267 voters submitted a ballot.

For Wayne City Mayor: Cale Giese defeated Pat Melena 890-671 as write-in candidate saw Jane O’Leary receive 71 votes.

Staying in City of Wayne for Council Ward 1: Christopher A. Woehler defeated incumbent Rodney Greve 190-117 as City Council Ward 4 went to incumbent Jill Brodersen over Jessi Hansen, 322-233.

Wayne School District 17 top three vote results in Wayne County went to Sylvia Ruhl (1,402), Jodi Pulfer (1,291) and Justin A. Davis (1,157). Other votes went to Kelly Meyer (833), Amanda Hawthorne (455) and Scott Meisenbach (443).

Wayne County Commissioner District 1 went to Terry Sievers (Rep.) over Louis E. Benscoter (Dem.), 874-201.

On the nonpartisan ticket in Wayne County only…LENRD At Large saw Greg Owens beat Joel J. Hansen, 1,726-1,188. Voting will be taking place in other counties for Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District throughout the night.

Winside School District 95R voting in Wayne County results only: Kate Falk (309), Jonathan Jaeger (226) and Tarrin Quinn (212) received the most votes as other votes went to Corey Russell (209) and Dana Bargstadt (184).

The Wayne County Canvassing Board will convene on Thursday, November 8 at 1 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the Wayne County Courthouse. The board will canvas the results of the 2018 General Election.
