Micah’s Closet Hosts Friday Morning Chamber Coffee

WAYNE – Community members met at Micah’s Closet located at 602 Main Street in Wayne for the Friday morning Chamber Coffee. Micah’s Closet is a non-profit family thrift store. They accept clothing donations and sell it at an extremely reasonable price to the community. Kadra Sommersted-Simmons is the current manager of the shop that is open Monday thru Wednesday from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m., Friday from noon till 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

“We not only provide low cost for community members to be able to buy clothing, we also sometimes are able to give the clothing they need for free depending on their situation,” said Kadra.

Micah’s Closet is a fixture of the Wayne First United Methodist Church that is run by volunteers alongside Kadra. They have clothing for all ages and sizes. With Halloween right around the corner there are currently a variety of children’s costumes available in the store.

“We are actually one of the only places here in town that sells kid’s clothing,” explained Sommersted-Simmons, “from newborn all the way up to age 14 and then of course when they transition from teen to adult. We go all the way up to four X as well.”

Micah’s Closet helps hundreds of families per year in Wayne and surrounding communities. Every item in the store is priced at $3 or less and proceeds benefit a great cause. Every dollar raised goes towards local missions in and around Wayne.
