May 5 Wayne City Council Meeting To Feature Updates, Bids Received For Hank Overin Field Sprinklers

WAYNE – A trio of updates and presentations will take place Tuesday evening during the regularly scheduled Wayne City Council meeting.

From the Community Room at Wayne Community Activity Center, council will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Sandy Brown will provide the annual update from the Wayne Green Team which will then be followed by an update on the water transmission main.

Andrew Ross, Director of Retail Utility Services and Member Relations will also bring forward to council a presentation on the ‘February Electric Event’. The City of Wayne asked Nebraska Municipal Power Pool to look at the additional costs which the city had to cover. A power cost adjustment (PCA) recommendation will be presented on how to recover those costs.

Doug Temme, President of the Wayne County Ag Society will be present as their group is requesting that the sewer bill between February 15 – March 15 be forgiven. The water line in the commercial building at the Wayne County Fairgrounds froze and broke in February during a cold evening.

Resolution items will include approving a community-wide blanket construction permit agreement between the City of Wayne and Black Hills Nebraska Gas LLC (d/b/a Black Hills Energy) while accepting a bid and awarding a contract on the “Hank Overin Ball field Irrigation Sprinkler System Project”.

Four bids were received by Lowell Heggemeyer, Park and Rec Director on this project. The City of Wayne will be purchasing the materials for the project as the bid being awarded will be for labor only. The fiscal year – 2021 budget has allocated funds for this project.
