Massage School Showcased During Weekly Chamber Coffee Event

WAYNE – After starting class just over a month ago, a locally owned school of massage therapy welcomed in community members during a weekly event.

Located inside the Mid City Plaza on the corner of Pearl and West 2nd Street, Serenity School of Massage Therapy hosted Friday morning chamber coffee on September 27.

Owner and lead teacher, Holly Doring is passionate about massage and the direction that it’s going as she wants to be in that medical field.

“We do work alongside chiropractors,” said Doring. “We are getting referrals from doctors which is good. I want to increase people’s knowledge of what massage does for your health. How good it is and also it’s not just good for your mental health but it’s good for your physical health as well.”

The school where Doring went to was in South Sioux City and she was in the last class to go through before it closed.

A ribbon cutting event was also held Friday morning as the time allowed Doring to thank all for helping Serenity School of Massage Therapy open.

The students also showed off their vision board and are currently working on completing the required 100 hours each in seven different classes.

“I feel good about where they are in the process,” Doring added. “And we’re only six and a half weeks in and so we’re still fairly new but they’re going a good job. And they’re teaching me along the way to.”
