Marsh Madness Continues At Ponca State Park

PONCA – Join Ponca State Park for more Saturday activities as they continue the Marsh Madness promotion.

Saturday morning gets underway bright and early with a 6:30 a.m. Sunrise Bird Tour. Join an expert guide from the Loess Hills Audubon Society to watch waterfowl wake-up and continue their migration. Pre-register by calling 402-755-2284 and meet inside the Resource and Education Center for this free tour. It is limited to 10 people per tour.

At 1 p.m. take an afternoon hike on the Bigley’s Ravine Trail to enjoy more bird watching. Learn how to identify local birds by sight and sound and join in on a scavenger hunt along the way. Meet at the trail head for this free hike.

At 3 p.m. head back to the Resource and Education Center to enjoy an episode from the award-winning series “Planet Earth”. “Grasslands” will be the featured episode and there will be free popcorn. The approximate run-time of the film is 51 minutes and this is a free event.

Finally, close down the day at 6 p.m. for a Sunset Bird Tour where you can watch birds return to the safety of the marsh at dusk. Binoculars, spotting scopes, and bird books will be available for the tour. Pre-register and meet in front of the Resource and Education Center.
