WAYNE – There’s a perfect opportunity for people around the Wayne area to support their local community this weekend. Going to a drive-in movie on Friday or Saturday night will help Majestic Theatre of Wayne stay afloat. All proceeds will go to the theatre’s utility bills and building upgrades, since they are a non-profit entity. Admission will be free on Friday and Saturday night.
People can order concessions ahead of time to pick them up at the fairgrounds or at the movie theatre before the show. Call the theatre at 402-833-1833 between 4-7 p.m. to reserve your concessions. Also, attendants can order concessions at the entrance of the drive-in area.
On Friday night, June 12, people can see The Goonies at 9:30 p.m. Also, at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, go to the showing of Wonder Woman.
The drive-in theatre will be set up around the grandstand area at the fairgrounds. In other words, the area where the concert and demo derby take place for the fair. The audio for the movie will air over an unused radio wavelength.
Everyone in attendance will be asked to stay in their vehicle, in keeping with the Directed Health Measures (DHM). Staying in the hatch or the bed of a vehicle is permitted. Also, there will be restrooms open at the fairgrounds, but people are asked to not congregate around them.
Tim Bartz, Coordinator of Majestic Theatre since January 1, 2020, wants to emphasize that this event is for the community and to thank the public for their supports during this trying time. The Majestic Theatre building is a landmark, so renovations are continuously needed.
The events for June 12 and 13 will be a test run to see if Majestic Theatre can make this event a monthly occurrence. Majestic Theatre is open for concessions Friday – Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at 310 Main Street in Wayne. For more information visit https://www.majesticonmain.org/, or call 402-833-1833.
