Majestic Theatre Announces Capital Campaign Drive During Chamber Coffee

WAYNE – A northeast Nebraska theatre which offers afternoon and evening showtimes welcomed in the community during a weekly event earlier in the day.

Friday morning chamber coffee was hosted by the Majestic Theatre at 310 Main Street.

Coordinator of the theatre, Melanie Loggins said it was 10 years ago that they started the initial push of fundraising to get the theatre renovated and reopened. Friday morning the Majestic announced they’ll be kicking off their Capital Campaign.

“We’re just using this time to talk to our friends and the people who’ve always supported us,” said Loggins. “To say, ‘hey help us go out and really talk to people about why it’s time to re-invest in the theatre’.”.

The theme will be “there’s no place like home and there’s no place like your home theatre”.

Loggins added they’ve been showing as many movies to as many different people as possible in the last almost nine years and there’s always something going on in the theatre.

“In fact, I think that through September to mid-October there’s someone in here almost every day doing something,” Loggins added. “Just finding new ways to use the space and make it as much of apart of the community as we can.”

Majestic Theatre has seating for 154 but can pack the house with extra seats in the back for about 190 people.

The theatre is showing “Good Boys” an R-rated movie through September 22 including a small Indy movie about a Chinese family in late September.

“We’ve got documentaries coming up about suicide,” Loggins mentioned. “We’ve got a move premier, a movie that was made locally from here on campus and they’re going to premier their movie here in a couple of weeks.”

Majestic has five part-time employees and are open Mondays from 8 a.m. until noon or by appointment. Contact the theatre at 402-833-1833 or like The Majestic Theatre on Facebook.
