WAYNE – Wayne Community Schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday late afternoon for a short period of time.
The Wayne Police Department released information that Wayne Schools were placed on lockdown per the department’s request. It was for a precautionary measure as officers searched for a subject.
According to a phone recording from Superintendent Mark Lenihan, at approximately 3:20 p.m. the schools went on lockdown and were then lifted around 3:25 p.m. Students were released from school at normal time of 3:35 p.m.
