Local Working Group Holding Public Meeting For NRCS Aid Recommendations, Set For February 11

STANTON – A Local Working Group gives advice for numerous U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) conservation programs. They will hold a meeting on February 11, at 5:30 p.m.

This is a public meeting. People are encouraged to share their natural resource concerns to help the USDA formulate its natural resources plan.

Find the link for the Zoom meeting, here. The meeting passcode is 561184.

There is a Local Working Group in each Natural Resources District (NRD). The group is made up of local government officials. Its job largely entails recommending resource distribution from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

These recommendations could be targeting certain areas, cost share rates on conservation programs, and which conservation practices to pursue.

Landowners and other producers receive a total from anywhere between $45 million to $75 million in aid from Nebraska NRCS. This money goes toward improvements to land, water, and wildlife.
