Local Construction Company Showcased Friday For Chamber Coffee

WAYNE – Friday morning Chamber Coffee featured a construction project taking over the intersection of 2nd & Logan Streets.

The team of Robert Woehler & Sons Construction is heading a storm sewer replacement project. Community members gathered in front of the Mineshaft Mall prior to the weekend.

At first, the company started out as just Robert Woehler before the three sons started helping out. Sons include Bradley (BJ), Matt and Chris as all three went to Wayne High. The crew has grown from one backhoe to many backhoes and excavators, according to Robert Woehler.

“We’ve just grown since the boys got involved,” Woehler said. “They decided to go bigger. I was pretty much by myself and one guy and they’ve got multiple employees right now.”

Woehler and Sons Construction was starting to run out of room at their 123 Fairgrounds Avenue location. Last fall the expansion project started and will be finished after their summer work.

Robert talked more about the engineered project at 2nd & Logan.

“We’re doing a storm sewer from the transfer station up to State National Bank,” Woehler added. “Supposedly when it rains State National Bank floods. The storm sewer isn’t big enough, so they decided to put a bigger storm sewer in.”

A few projects where Woehler & Sons are at include Tekamah, the Wayne airport, Norfolk YMCA and just finishing in Wakefield.

Woehler & Sons Construction invites the community to the Wayne Armory for an Appreciation Event Friday evening starting at 5 p.m. for food, drinks and music. 40 years of business will be celebrated.

“I’ve enjoyed working with the public,” Woehler mentioned. “I’ve learned a lot as I’ve done it you know and stuff. I guess you might say it’s a big undertaking when you do something like that.”

Join United Way as the host for the next Friday for Chamber Coffee at Ameritas on August 24. A new time for the event will be at 11 a.m. with a lunch to follow.
