Local Communities Hosting Blood Drives To Boost Blood Supply

WAYNE – Make plans to schedule a donation during an upcoming LifeServe Blood Drive in late February or March.

According to a release from LifeServe, the center is urging healthy community members to give blood to help boost the blood supply to help make up for blood donation appointments which were cancelled due to the ongoing flu season.

Upcoming blood drives will take place in Wayne this Wednesday, February 26; Wakefield on Wednesday, March 4 and Allen on Thursday, March 12.

Many regular blood donors have cancelled their donation appointments this winter due to illness. Since blood cannot be recreated in a lab and there is no substitute when a hospital patient requires a transfusion, it’s important that healthy donors step up to boost the blood supply.

  • Wayne Community Blood Drive: Wednesday, February 26 from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Wayne Fire Department (510 Tomar Drive).
  • Wakefield Community Blood Drive: Wednesday, March 4 from 2 – 6 p.m. at Christian Church of Wakefield (303 Johnson St.).
  • Allen Community Blood Drive: Thursday, March 12 from 2 – 5:15 at the Allen Fire Hall (2nd & Harrison).

Schedule a blood donation appointment online at lifeservebloodcenter.org or call 800-287-4903.
