WAKEFIELD – Cast and crew at Little Red Hen Theatre have been busy at work as they prepare to showcase their first performance of the 2020 season.
Originally scheduled for March 20 – 22 and then again being postponed until earlier this month, the performance of Nana’s Naughty Knickers is finally set for May 15 – 22 via livestream.
Managing director with Little Red Hen Theatre, Adam Goos said two months ago the cast only had a few rehearsals remaining as they were approaching the week before the original dates Nana’s Naughty Knickers.
“Fortunately, there was only nine of us in the cast and then an assistant director, so we were able to get together under the current guidelines last week,” said Goos. “We were able to finish our rehearsals and we actually taped two performances for an empty house that we’ll be able to stream starting this week online for viewers.
LRHT received permission from the playwright to provide a limited “livestream” that will allow anyone to see the show from the comfort of their own home.
Nana’s Naughty Knickers is a slick comedy with crisp funny dialogue, fast paced action and a story that will keep the audience in stitches.
Those who want to livestream the performance will have to be a ticket holder. To purchase a ticket, go to littleredhentheatre.com or call 402-287-2818.
“Once you’ve bought your ticket and given us an email, it’s a little bit of a manual process,” Goos added. “I have to send you a secondary email that will give you a link to where the video is hosted online as well as the password to access that.”
Again, performances will be streamed online anytime from Friday, May 15 – Friday, May 22 and the opportunity to purchase access to stream the production will be open through May 22.
James & The Giant Peach will be the next production that Little Red Hen Theatre will be working on as video audition submissions are due on Friday, May 15. The Broadway musical will feature a hip and diverse score as those interested can find guidelines about how to submit auditions at littleredhentheatre.com.
“So, if people are interested in being part of that show they can go to our website, download an audition packet and kind of see what they need to do,” Goos mentioned. “Send us a video of them singing and a little script reading.”
The production is looking to cast a diverse group of performers, ranging from age six and up who act, sing and dance or move for several roles as well as a “players” ensemble. Volunteers are also being sought to help with production and artistic elements, such as stage management, lights, sound, costumes and props.
Due to COVID-19, the theatre is exploring several ways for the production to be put together following Directed Health Measures that may be in place when rehearsals begin on June 1.
Other performances scheduled during the 2020 season include Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal on November 7 and A Christmas Carol from December 4-6.
