Library To Offer Craft Night, Pumpkin Paining Contest

WAYNE – With Halloween approaching next weekend, the Wayne Public Library is offering several fun-filled activities for the family ahead of time.

According to a release from the library, they’ll be offering a ‘Craft Night’ on Tuesday, October 19 from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

Monster dolls will be on display as you can show off your creativity with the zombie and monster doll creation program. Participants will be able to create your very own zombie or monster doll.

Dolls, paint and accessories will be provided as the cost to attend this craft night will be $1 per doll created. Dolls will be on display at the library until Friday, October 29 and be picked up by their creator anytime after.

Contact the Wayne Public Library at 402-375-3135 to reserve your spot at craft night. Space is limited and will be offered to those first come, first serve.

A pumpkin painting contest will also begin on Wednesday, October 20 at the library. Guests can bring in their already painted pumpkins to the library from Wednesday through Monday, October 25 and be evaluated by guest judges on Wednesday, October 27 from noon to 1 p.m.

Age ranges for pumpkin judging and ribbon awards include birth to four years, 5-8, 9-12, 13-18 and 19 years of age and older. Grand prizes will be awarded to each age group. Also, pumpkin painting contestants are urged to pick up their work after awards are issued.

Also, plan on joining Miss Kim at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, October 20 – 21 for Toddler Time – Pumpkin Paining. Each Wednesday and Thursday, Toddler Time offers stories, music, dancing, busy bags, and more. Meet other parents and kids in the area and learn about the various services and reading programs that the library offers. This week’s special Toddler Time will also feature Pumpkin Painting. Plan on wearing messy clothes and prepare to paint your masterpieces for the Pumpkin Painting Contest. Pumpkins will be provided for the youth.

The Needle Night group will plan on meeting this Thursday, October 21 starting at 6:30 p.m. This is a time for conversation and good company while working on your personal needlework projects. All kinds of decorative sewing and textile arts handicrafts are welcome.

There’ll be ‘After School Coloring’ to paint pumpkins at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 22 as well as the Halloween Trivia Night will take place at 7 p.m. Friday evening from Johnnie Byrd Brewing Company.
