Lewis & Clark SRA Welcoming In Author, Historian July 2; Crofton Dam Race July 30

CROFTON – Several of Nebraska’s state parks will offer a variety of events for those interested in history, conservation, nature and just having a good time.

According to a release from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area (SRA) will welcome in author and historian Jeff Barnes this weekend.

A presentation of ‘Bad Man in a Better Place: Jesse James in Nebraska” will take place on Saturday, July 2 at 7 p.m. from the Weigand Picnic shelter near Crofton.

Barnes will share what’s known of the truth, the fiction and the legend of Jesse James in Nebraska.

This presentation is made possible by Humanities Nebraska, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment and Game and Parks as part of the HN Speakers Bureau.

A vehicle park entry permit is required.

The Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area will also be hosting Crofton’s Dam Race on Saturday, July 30. Participants will be able to choose between a sprint triathlon with kayaking instead of swimming, a half-marathon or a 12-mile bike race.
