LENRD Implementing Online Reservation System For Local Recreational Areas

NORFOLK – One of the 12 duties of the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District (LENRD) is to develop and manage recreational areas. Many of these areas serve more than one purpose. A flood-control dam might double as a recreational area, for example.

LENRD has built three dams along its 15-county range. These sites include the Willow Creek State Recreation Area, Maskenthine Lake, and the Maple Creek Recreation Area by Leigh.

All LENRD recreational sites will now have an online reservation option. LENRD recently approved a contract with Reserve America for the project. Additionally, new reservation and cancellation policies were approved. The website will go live this spring.

In other news from the district’s monthly meeting, it sent out non-compliance letters to well owners that did not provide their water usage reports.

LENRD’s board meets every month to develop management plans of the area’s natural resources. The next board meeting will be Thursday, February 25.
