NORFOLK – The Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District’s (LENRD) Board of Directors recently met for their September meeting. They officially declared a drought across the district. The district includes all or parts of 15 counties. The board will continue gathering to discuss conditions surrounding the drought.
The average cost of Deep Soil Sampling was set for the 2021 Fiscal Year. The price was set as $55.99 per sample. The limit is one sample per 25 acres.
A contract was made to complete the Flow Meter Preventative Maintenance Services. The board came to an agreement with Derek and Austin Becker of Norfolk. This project will cover LENRD’s portions of Knox, Cedar, Dixon, Wayne, and Thurston Counties.
There was an irrigation certification hearing held during the board meeting. The board certified 129 parcels of irrigated acres.
The LENRD board and staff meet each month. At these meetings, they develop plans to help maintain our natural resources.
