NORFOLK – After 67 years, a Norfolk-native and Korean War Vet is finally coming home.
The remains of Army Sgt. First Class Milton Beed were recently positively identified by the U.S. Department of Defense. Beed was captured in Korea and killed while in captivity. Now, he will be returning to Nebraska to be laid to rest at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Norfolk.
The Legion Riders of Nebraska will be leading a procession for Beed beginning at Eppley Airfield in Omaha. The Riders will be leading Beed’s remains up Highway 275, turning north on 13th Street in Norfolk and ending at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel, where Beed’s funeral will be held on Wednesday.
Bill Jepsen with the Legion Riders estimates the riders will be making stops at these estimated times on Monday:
2:15 p.m. – Sapp Bros. in Fremont
3:30 p.m. – The West Point Travel Plaza
5 p.m. – Arriving in Norfolk on Highway 275, before turning north on 13th Street to the funeral home.
The Legion Riders are asking residents who are able to line the streets to help show their support for the fallen hero.
