Last Covid-19 Update BROADCAST On Friday

We are also alarmed by the lack of transparency by both the State of Nebraska and the local health departments regarding Covid-19 recoveries and hospitalizations.

WAYNE –The last scheduled live broadcast of Governor Pete Rickett’s statewide Covid-19 press briefings on KCTY Radio, “The City”, will air today, May 29th at 2:00pm.

The station began airing the Monday through Friday briefings from Lincoln, along with the national White House coronavirus task force briefings, at the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak several months ago.

In announcing the programming change, Station Manager David Kelly says – “While the live press briefings from Lincoln provided a valuable direct information  link in the beginning, the level of urgency has diminished. However, we will continue to report on the Governor’s remarks on our regular local radio newscasts and on waynedailynews.com.”

The station stopped carrying the daily White House briefings several weeks ago for the same reason.

Kelly says – “Both KCTY and KTCH will continue to broadcast the hourly Covid-19 related local news expansions heard typically during the morning hours. However, we are continually evaluating our news coverage and will add or delete features and special events as the situations arise.

We are also alarmed by the lack of transparency by both the State of Nebraska and the local health departments regarding Covid-19 recoveries and hospitalizations. Failure to provide this basic information presents a clouded vision of the crisis and is not in the community’s best interests.”
