KTCH Quiz Bowl Top Four Recognized, Schuyler Won Five Of Six Matches By One Point

WAYNE – From early March to late May, the four KTCH Quiz Bowl finalists held their awards night where they were recognized by quiz bowl coordinator Colleen Simpson.

The 2019 KTCH Quiz Bowl concluded on March 4-5 where St. Edward defeated Tekamah-Herman (6-5) in the consolation round while Schuyler was crowned Quiz Bowl Champions over Shelby-Rising City (3-2) the next day.

Each of the four teams received a trophy and individual medals.

The 2019 KTCH Quiz Bowl featured over 60 teams from January 7 until March 5 and will be gearing up for 2020 this next winter.

The first-place team, Warriors, received a cash prize of $200.

Preston Anderson, Connor Bywater, Pietro Caligiana (foreign exchange student from Italy) and QB Advisor John Sayer.

Schuyler began their championship run with a first round win over Lindsay Holy Family (2-1), got past Madison (1-0) in the second round, defeated Bloomfield (3-2) in the third, won over Pender (3-1) in the quarterfinals and edged Tekamah-Herman (5-4) in the semis before winning over Shelby-Rising City.

 

Shelby-Rising City placed runner-up and were awarded with $150.

Third place winner, St. Edward received $100.

Tekamah-Herman took fourth earning $50.
