VERDIGRE – This Father’s Day weekend will be packed full of fun activities for all ages during Kolach Days in Verdigre. Starting Friday Kolach Days will host the 1st Annual BBQ Cookoff at the Verdigre Stockyards where competitors will be serving from 11:30 until 5. From 1-6 p.m. there will be free swimming at the Verdigre pool. Jim’s Fine Wines will be putting on a beer and wine tasting from 6-9 p.m. at the hall. The Kiddie Parade will take place at 6 p.m. at Alpine Village. At 7 p.m. the Verdigre Community Chorus will be putting on a variety show at the school gym. There will be a cruise night on Friday evening with a car show to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Main Street. Friday’s activities will wrap up with a movie at Chalupnik Park at approximately 9:45 p.m.
On Saturday there will be a 5K run/walk and 10K run starting at 8 a.m. beginning at the Fire Hall. Chalupnik Park will have inflatables for all ages from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The park will also host The Doc Walstrom Memorial Turtle Races at 11 a.m. with duck races to follow at 1:30. There will be a bean bag tournament at 1 p.m. with cost being $30 per team. From 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. there will be a street dance featuring “Rude Band” with admission price set at $10.
Sunday will kickoff with the Annual Polka Mass at 9:30 a.m. and a BBQ at 11. The Grand Parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a kolach eating contest to follow on Main Street. The Royal Ball coronation will take place at 4:30 p.m. with music by Angie and the Polka Toons happening from 3-7 p.m.
