Inaugural Fall Brawl Demo Derby Attracts 64 Entries, Scholarship Fund For Trade School In Place

WAYNE – As northeast Nebraska was put on full display for families to take advantage of a fall day in late September, a clean-up demo derby with a cause was one to attend.

From the Wayne County Fairgrounds, the first-ever 2021 Fall Brawl Demo Derby attracted over 60 entries with competitors traveling as far as Minnesota.

Organizer, Brent Sherman said he thought the event went well but with any new event, there’ll always be some changes.

“Possibly changing the venue to a Saturday maybe and not conflicting with Cars N Carroll and there were a couple of other events going on,” said Sherman. “But other than that, I think it ran pretty smoothly.”

Sherman would like to thank the community support, all the sponsors including D & D Motorsports and CS Promotions, LLC being the lead groups and will look forward to making it a bigger event next year.

This inaugural event was a ‘clean-up’ derby for all vehicles and featured cars, foods, drinks and family fun.

Funds are still be finalized but a scholarship has been set for area individuals to attend trade school. Sherman added there’s still opportunities to donate to the fund.

“We have lots of t-shirt left,” Sherman added. “If they would want to purchase a t-shirt still which is all still going towards the scholarship fund or just hit us up on our Fall Brawl Facebook page.”

Classes of limited weld, bonestock, 90’s and newer as well as mini vans were listed among the program as funds were also given to a mad dog award in each class as well as the longest haul.

Sherman mentioned the competition was good.

“We had some really good cars, some drivers you don’t see here in this area very often if at all,” Sherman mentioned. “They all liked the event and said they’d be back next year.”
