WAYNE – Following a successful electronics recycling event last month, the Wayne Green Team is pleased to bring back the Household Hazardous Waste Collection in October.
According to a release from the Wayne Green Team, Wayne will be the host site on Saturday, October 16 from 8 – 10 a.m. The Household Hazardous Wase Collection event will be held at the Wayne Recycling & Trash Center (RTC) located at 110 Windom St.
For a $10 fee, plan on bringing household hazardous waste items such as latex & oil-based paint, pesticides, herbicides, oil, cleaning chemicals, yard & garden chemicals, anti-freeze, car batteries, mercury & mercury containing devices and fluorescent lightbulbs, including CFLs.
Household quantities only will be accepted.
Items that will not be accepted include tires, electronics, appliances, PCBs, picric acid, science lab materials, radioactive materials or biological hazards.
The 2021 Household Hazardous Waste Collection is being sponsored by Northeast Nebraska Resource Conservation & Development, Wayne Green Team and Waste Connections with funding from the Nebraska Environmental Trust and volunteer support from the Wayne State College baseball team.
