House Search Yields Falls City Drug Arrest

FALLS CITY – Falls City police report separate drug arrests of 39-year-old Joshua Darden and 35-year-old Mathew Pohlman on Dec. 28.

Assistance Police Chief Jamie Baker said an investigation led police to obtain a search warrant for Darden’s residence on Lane Street.

Baker: “During the search there were several pieces of drug paraphernalia and controlled substances located and also, during the search, there were several weapons located inside of the residence.”

Court records note a city building inspector report in September at the residence and the issuance of a nuisance complaint to Joshua Darden. Authorities obtained a warrant and searched the property for nuisances in October.

The report indicated exposed electrical wires, debris in rooms so dense the rooms could not be entered, exposed sewer lines, a decaying mouse corpse and other rubbish.

Police say the search Friday revealed controlled substances including methamphetamine, codeine, Alprazolam and less than an ounce of marijuana.

Police are also pursuing charges of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school or playground.

Falls City police were also conducting an investigation on East 16th Street on Friday.

A search of a residence resulted in charges against Pohlman.

A police press release says over 3.5 ounces of marijuana was found and charges of less than ounce are expected against Pohlman.
