WAYNE – After students showcased their instrumental music talent this past weekend, more high school students will blend their voices together on the final day of January.
According to a release from Wayne State College, 61 high schools in Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa will join voices with the WSC Choirs during the 2020 Honor Choir Festival.
The event will take place on Friday, January 31 with a concert scheduled for 4 p.m. from Ramsey Theatre in the Peterson Fine Arts building. Admission is $5 for adults as student admission is free.
Concert highlights include music by Jeremiah Ingalls, Ryan Main, Randall Thompson and Rollo Dilworth. The concert will also conclude with all choirs singing a new arrangement of Toto’s “Africa”, written specifically for choir and percussion by Matthew and Shelly Armstrong.
WSC Director of Choirs, Dr. Matthew Armstrong will conduct the Mixed Honor Choir while the Women’s Honor Choir is conducted by WSC alum Cheri Helmer-Reinsche.
