Highlighted Chicken Show Activities

WAYNE – In just a few days the 39th annual Chicken Show will take center-stage over a three-day period in Wayne America.

From Friday, July 12 – Sunday, July 14, plan on making a trip in or around Wayne for this year’s chicken show. The 2019 theme is “Chickens Around the World”.

Friday evening highlighted events will feature the world’s largest chicken dance at 6 p.m. followed by entertainment being provided by the Wayne Dance Company and Twin Rivers Taekwondo at 6:30 p.m. The cement chicken auction is scheduled for 7 p.m. with saucy hot wing eating contest at 8 p.m. and ‘Many Moccasins Dance Troupe’ providing free entertainment at 8:30 p.m. leading into the Light Up the Sky Fireworks show around 10 p.m. (music can be heard on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9)

Saturday’s parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. with floats going north on Main Street from 1st to 10th; west on 10th Street and then south on Lincoln Street ending at 7th Street.

A new event this year will be the Chicken Show Cookoff held at noon from the southwest shelter at Bressler Park.

Following free entertainment at noon on the stage at Bressler Park by Ted and Alice Miller, Chicken Show contests will begin at 1 p.m. with chicken scratch for prizes. The National Cluck-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. followed by the hard-boiled egg eating contest, rubber chicken chuck, egg toss and egg drop around 3:30 p.m.

Activities between the chicken scratch and cluck-off include chicken flying contest, little chick auction and best chicken legs.

Make plans to head back to downtown Wayne at 2nd Street on Sunday for the Crowing Motor Car Show from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Last Cluck Poker Run is also scheduled from 1 – 6 p.m.
