Help Cram The Van This Week During WSC Service Learning Project

WAYNE – Community Nutrition students at Wayne State College will be collecting items at both grocery stores this week.

According to a release from Wayne State College, the ‘Cram the Van’ event will be held on Tuesday, November 19 and Thursday, November 21 from 4 – 7 p.m. each day.

This WSC service-learning project will be collecting items for the Wayne Food Pantry, Wayne State College Food Pantry and the Wayne Backpack Program. Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week lasts from Saturday, November 16 – Sunday, November 24.

The van will be at Quality Foods (517 Dearborn St.) Tuesday and Pac N Save (1115 W 7th St.) Thursday.

 

For the Wayne Food Pantry:

Boxed meals (hamburger helper); canned meat (tuna, chicken); peanut butter and/or jelly; macaroni & cheese; pasta & sauce; canned fruit and vegetables; canned soup, cereals & oatmeal; flour & sugar; diapers (all sizes); toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste) and paper products (toilet paper, paper towels).

For the WSC Food Pantry:

$5 – $20 gift cards to the grocery stores for perishable items.

For the Wane Backpack Program:

Any individual packaged, health foods, such as: granola bars, unsweetened applesauce, fruit cuts, microwavable meals as well as easy macaroni and cheese.
