Hazmat Night Out Scheduled For June 26

MADISON – The public is invited for an evening of food, networking and demonstrations during the Fifth annual Hazmat Night Out.

The Elkhorn Valley Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will host the event on Wednesday, June 26 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Madison Fire Department.

The LEPC’s primary role is to support the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) of 1986. This includes the development of the hazmat plan, education of the general public on chemical awareness and tracking of chemical inventory supplied by local industry.

The evening will also include a tour of a local BBQ sauce manufacturing plant as hazmat trailers will be available to be toured.

Register by end of day Tuesday by emailing Melanie Thompson at melanie@elvphd.org or call 402-529-2233. Businesses, organizations and fire departments can indicate the number of people planning to attend without individual registrations as registration is needed to plan for food.
