Haven House Tree Dedicated For Late WSC Professor

WAYNE – Earlier this week, Haven House held a tree dedication for a late Wayne State College professor.

According to a release from Wayne State College Relations, individuals gathered for the memorial event on Tuesday, August 20 at 4 p.m. Haven House in Wayne is located at 215 West 2nd Street.

The purpose of the gathering was to dedicate a tree in memory of Dr. Daryl Wilcox who passed away on January 10, 2018.

Dr. Wilcox was a Wayne State College professor in the School of Education and Counseling. She had an enormous dedication to her students and to Haven House as she devoted her knowledge, ability and time to teach educators at all levels. In 2012, Dr. Wilcox was also awarded the Nebraska Association of Special Education Supervisors (NASES) Distinguished Service Award in Lincoln.

Other degrees Dr. Wilcox earned were from the University of Kansas, Pittsburg State University and Baker University.

Research interests for Dr. Wilcox included mild and moderately handicapped students’ needs, learning disabilities and styles of learning. Her teaching interests also included learning styles, early childhood and special education
