Haven House Receives $1,000 Donation

WAYNE – A springtime fundraiser will assist with local awareness on sexual assault and domestic violence for a northeast Nebraska Haven House Family Service Center.

According to a news release by Mikey C Productions, $1,000 was raised by Michael Carnes (president of Mikey C Productions LLC) and Mary Vanderbeek (MCP Creative Director). The project was initially intended to be conducted during April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Haven House executive director, Amy Munderloh said Carnes believes in their mission and is very generous to Haven House.

“Those funds will be going towards client needs and operational expenses,” said Munderloh. “So, it’s just flexible funds that we can use towards anything that comes up that we need funding for.”

Haven House has provided nearly 1,500 services; over 500 shelters and 1,500+ meals along with totaling 4,204 volunteer hours.

Haven House lobbies are closed but remain fully operational as appointments are being made. The necessary precautions are also be taken from recommendation by the public health department.

“We are seeing people on a daily basis,” Munderloh added. “I wouldn’t say we have had an increase in the last few weeks. We are continually having crisis line calls.”

“Anytime we can spread awareness about Haven House we will do that,” Munderloh mentioned. “So, we’re open to providing presentations across the community and we also welcome stop-ins. If anyone wants to stop in and see our facility, we’re open to that too.”
