WAYNE – It was moving day last Thursday for a local group who offers crisis intervention and prevention services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Haven House in Wayne packed up from their 509 Dearborn Street location and unloaded off of West 2nd Street between Lincoln and North Pearl. The previous owner, Magnuson Hopkins Eye Care moved into their new location of 1112 W 7th Street earlier this year.
Outreach Coordinator for Haven House Family Service Center, Michael Carnes said the morning was perfect weather and assistance was appreciated.
“From the football team from Wayne State College, also some people from Ameritas and also the First National Bank Card Center,” said Carnes. “So, we’ve been totally blessed today (Thursday) to have everything go the way it’s been going.”
All the large items were transported Thursday while some of the smaller boxes were transferred later.
Haven House will still provide services for their clients at their Dearborn Mall location until July 31, but come Wednesday, August 1 the group will be up and running next to the Post Office.
“Hopefully if the computer gods and all goes well, and everything is right we won’t miss a day of service,” Carnes added. “We’ll be able to continue what we do.”
The South Sioux City office is also helping the Wayne location in this process. Contact Haven House in Wayne at 402-375-5433, South Sioux City at 402-494-7592 or the 24-hour crisis line is 1-800-440-4633. Visit havenhousefsc.com for more information.
