Haven House Hosts Ribbon Cutting, Tours Offered During Chamber Coffee

WAYNE – Community members were invited to Haven House for a grand opening event during Friday morning Chamber Coffee.

Located at 215 West 2nd Street, Haven House staffs five employees in Wayne and three at their South Sioux City location. Executive Director for Haven House, Amy Munderloh said their board is made up of nine members, a strong internship program and around 20 volunteers.

“We also have just community members that are willing to volunteer their time,” said Munderloh. “Whether that’s helping with the newsletter or wanting to come in and just help us with our daily duties.”

Haven House has been in their new location, near the post office for a couple months. Munderloh added they have been thankful for this space.

“We have a children’s area, we have a support group area, we have a calming room, we have an area for our board to meet,” Munderloh added. “I think that this space is going to allows us to grow and provide more services.”

Since moving, more people have visited Haven House that have needed assistance.

The next step for Haven House would be to grow their programs and services for clients.

“That are women and men that get assistance from being sexual assaulted,” Munderloh mentioned. “Maybe they have friends, families or co-workers that they feel that need help and they don’t know what to do.”

Join Wayne County Nebraska Extension for the next Friday morning Chamber Coffee on October 26 at 10 a.m. The event will be held at the Wayne County Courthouse.
