Hastings Public Schools selects new superintendent

HASTINGS, NE (Omaha World-Herald News Service) – After a candidate search and interviews, the Hastings Public Schools Board of Education has chosen their next superintendent.

The board announced the selection of Jeff Schneider on Thursday, following the retirement of current Superintendent Craig Kautz.

HPS says Schneider has served as their Director of Finance and Operations for eight years. Prior to that, he served HPS as both an assistant principal and principal at Hastings Middle School.

The HPS board say Schneider, along with two other finalists, interviewed with the Board of Education and community groups earlier this week.

He will begin in his new position around July 1st.
