The plant employs over 2,200 people in Schuyler and the surrounding areas.

Ricketts praised Cargill and county officials for creating a valuable relationship between the company and the community.

“We want to see that continue to grow and create those great paying opportunities for our families here in Nebraska, and they also bring in cattle from about 1,500 producers and Cargill is a great corporate and community partner here.”

Ricketts said Cargill is not only a valuable part of Nebraska, but an important part of the world economy and hopes to see that value increase in the near future.

“Part of what we want to see is this continue to expand. It continues to create jobs again this is a key part of the supply chain to take our number one product which we produce here, beef, we are known as the beef state right? And make sure that we’re getting that distributed not only throughout the United States, but throughout the entire world.”
