YANKTON, SD – Earlier this week work began on a replacement bridge just west of US-81.
Last week the Nebraska Department of Transpiration (NDOT) awarded a $5,595,492 contract to Dixon Construction Co. of Correctionville, IA. The company began replacing the N-121 bridge south of Yankton, South Dakota (just west of US-81) on Monday, August 12.
The Gavins Point East project is the final bridge reconstruction contract to be awarded as a result of damage sustained from the March 2019 flooding event.
The highway will remain closed until bridge construction is complete. The bridge is anticipated to be opened to traffic on December 31 with the remaining work done in 2020 to complete the project.
Motorists are reminded to use caution while driving through selected alternate routes and to expect delays.
