From Outdoor Activities To Learning About Animals, Ponca State Park Has It All

PONCA – Events will continue after a day off Friday at Ponca State Park into the weekend.

Join the park on Saturday, June 9 from 9 – 11 a.m. for an introduction course to archery. All equipment will be provided as participants must be five years old or older. Cost is $1 per six arrows.

There’ll will then be three opportunities for parkgoers to learn the basic skills of kayaking in an “off-river” backwater area. Saturday times include 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Meet and pay $12 per person at the Resource and Education Center. Those who participate must be 12 years of age or older.

Also, on Saturday join one of the very popular programs for all ages being the Critter Corner at 11:30 a.m. Back at the Resource and Education Center, attendees will be provided a free snapshot of the wildlife found along the Missouri River.

Other free events on Saturday include the Wacky Water Cycle at 1 p.m. and view creatures at the night around 8:30 p.m.

Closing out the weekend from 9 – 11 a.m. on Sunday try your hand at hitting targets with pebbles using a real slingshot. Those who participate must be at least five years old as cost is $1 per 30 rocks.
