From Coloring Nights To Book Clubs, Wayne Public Library Offers Activities For All

WAYNE – More activities are scheduled throughout the month of March as the adult New Year reading challenge continues.

According to a release from the Wayne Public Library, the reading challenge that began in January goes through April and there are different challenges as well as prizes available at the end of each month.

All are invited even if you haven’t completed the previous month’s challenge. Just stop by the WPL circulation desk and pick up the March challenge booklet as this month’s prizes will be a L.E.D. booklight, ‘Read More Books’ canvas bag, a signed copy of “Someone Knows” by Lisa Scottoline and $10 in chamber bucks.

The adult new year reading challenge begins for April on Wednesday, April 1.

Along with the library board meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday evening, the monthly adult coloring night is also scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10. Sponsored by Pac N Save, all coloring supplies are provided as well as a light snack. The event is open to adults 18 and older.

A pair of after school coloring events will be held on Friday, March 13 and March 27 at 3:30 p.m. All coloring supplies will also be provided as well as a light snack. Adults will also be on hand for conversation.

Toddler times are scheduled for each Wednesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. while needle night events will be held each Thursday at 6 p.m.

Sit down with library staff on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) for craft night as participants will create a lucky vile necklace at 6 p.m. Cost per craft is $2 per bottle/necklace as registration is required. Another art activity is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 that will also feature an art lesson with WSC NAEA Art Education Club students. Registration is required and donations will be used towards funding for the club’s trip to the NAEA National Convention.

The Wayne Public Library will also welcome in youth for their annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 28. Children will be divided into age groups with the youngest going first as the event is sponsored by Hasemann Funeral Home. The weekend book club will then meet that afternoon at 2 p.m. discussing “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The club is open to anyone as a light snack will be provided.

‘After the Flood’ by Kassandra Montag will be featured during the traditional book club on Tuesday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. The group will meet in the Wayne Senior Center across the hall from the library.
