PONCA – Experience ice-fishing at Ponca State Park.

All ages are welcome to learn how to catch and clean rainbow trout Saturday, February 22 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at Ponca State Park. Fishers will meet at the pond near the Resource and Education Center for the clinic. All equipment and bait will be provided and there is no cost to attend. Visitors 16 and older must have a fishing license to participate.

If the ice is too thin, visitors can join a naturalist on a hike starting at 2:00 p.m.

If the weekend proves to be snowy, park-goers will have the opportunity to enter Ponca State Park’s Snowman Building Content. You will need to bring your own accessories which will stay with your snowman. Prizes will be awarded for first through third place.

First place will win a free night in one of the Mini Lodges at Ponca State Park. Photos of each snowman will be featured on Facebook and in the Resource and Education Center for the rest of the winter.

A second ice-fishing clinic will be held at the park next weekend along with other free activities.
