Former Norfolk Man Arrested For Alleged Stanton County Sexual Assault

STANTON — A former Norfolk man is behind bars after being arrested for a sexual assault that officials say happened more than seven years ago.

Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger says authorities arrested 59-year-old Paul Lovell in Shawnee, KS on Wednesday after a four-month investigation by the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office.  Unger says the investigation centered on an alleged sexual assault of a pre-teen girl that happened over seven years ago in Stanton.

Lovell was identified as a suspect and initially cooperated with the Sheriff’s Office in the investigation before quickly leaving the area.

He is charged with first degree sexual assault of a child, intentional child abuse and third degree sexual assault.  He is being held in a Kansas jail pending extradition to Nebraska, a process which could take several weeks.
