Floor Debates Began This Week, Senator Albrecht Elaborates On Her Five Proposed Bills In Latest Update

LINCOLN – Senator Joni Albrecht began her weekly update by noting that committee hearings are ending this week and floor debates started on Tuesday, March 2. Albrecht introduced five bills to committee.

LB 111 is the “First Responders and Public Protection Bill,” which defines rioting and imposes stiffer penalties for inciting, recruiting for, or participating in a riot.

The senator’s second proposed bill is called “Erin’s Law.” This would require public schools to provide four hours of body awareness training to K-12 students to prevent child sexual abuse.

“Repeal Obscenity Exemption” is a bill designed to prevent exposure of obscene materials to minors, specifically in a library setting.

“School Bonding Authority” would require an election to decide whether to build a new school structure, which is typically funded by local taxes.

LB 595 would provide tax incentives to produce ethanol products.

Senator Joni Albrecht encouraged her constituents to share their thoughts and questions with her by calling 402-471-2716, or by email at jalbrecht@leg.ne.gov.
