First Chamber Coffee Of March To Be Hosted By Conservation Group

WAYNE – With the 28th annual Logan Creek Pheasants Forever Banquet approaching in the middle of March, a preview of the event will take place during this week’s Friday morning Chamber Coffee.

From the north meeting room inside the City Auditorium, located at 3rd & Pearl Street members of the Logan Creek Pheasants Forever group invites all who can attend on Friday, March 2 during the weekly Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m.

Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs.

Current President, Jim Modrell said they usually host the Chamber Coffee on the day of their banquet, but there was another event already scheduled.

“So, we thought in order to thank the community it’d be nice,” said Modrell. “This day (3/2) was open, so we’re going to be hosting the Coffee that day and we’ll have a few prints down there. We invite the community to come down and it’s just kind of a thank you.”

The Logan Creek Chapter can provide assistance in the upgrade of new CRP programs to make acres more eligible, shrub plantings, food plots, habitat seed and no-till seed drill. According to a press release from Pheasants Forever on February, 7 of this year, the organization has expanded well over $500,000 on habitat projects and youth education.

In 2017, the 19th annual Youth Mentor Hunt was held. Last year the group introduced 20 youth to hunting and the notion of conservation/land ethic. They also support the 4-H Sharp Shooters and Hunter Safety program along with sponsoring a 5th grade field day.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the banquet with a dinner being served at 7 p.m.
