Fireworks Coming To Wayne During Chicken Days, Road Closure For State Legion Baseball

WAYNE – With summer in full swing, the City of Wayne will host their regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 3 at 5:30 p.m.

From the City Hall, Councilmembers will first take action on approving a firework display for Friday, July 13 during Henoween on Chicken Days. The fireworks will be set up on the rugby fields by the Wayne Softball Complex.

Senior American Legion state baseball is coming to Wayne in late July and the City will hear a request to close Windom Street between 3rd and 4th Streets. The streets would be closed on Saturday, July 28 – Sunday, July 29 from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Monday, July 30 from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Tuesday, July 31 from 2 – 10 p.m. and Wednesday, August 1 from 3 – 10 p.m. for games.

Council will then look to accept a plan to extend city services and set a public hearing for the proposed annexation area to the City of Wayne for Southview III Addition. More information will be addressed during the meeting as the annexation request if the first step in a multi-step process to ultimately own the drainage area.

Action will also be needed to set a date for the budget work session. Options are the evening of Tuesday, July 31 for Council or after City Council meetings on August 7 or 14.
