Female Arrested, Male Subject Remains At Large Following Cedar County Pursuit

WYNOT – Earlier this week the Cedar County Sheriff’s office was notified that South Dakota authorities were in pursuit of a blue car heading into Cedar County, Nebraska.

According to a release from the Cedar County Sheriff’s office, the call came in at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24.

Cedar County deputies intercepted the pursuit west of Wynot on Hwy 12 near 571 Ave. A Cedar County deputy successfully deployed a tire deflation device and the vehicle came to a stop.

The female passenger was taken into custody and transported to Cedar County jail while the male driver, identified as Nathan Murphree of Yankton, South Dakota fled on foot into a corn field.

Following an extensive search to locate the male subject, authorities were not able to locate Murphree as he remains at large. He is 6’ tall and 150 pounds, has brown eyes with brown hair and was last seen wearing only red shorts.

Murphree is not considered to be a danger to the public but if you see him call 911 immediately and do not approach the subject.

The Cedar County Sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by Yankton County Sheriff’s office, Dixon County Sheriff’s office, Dakota County Sheriff’s office, Nebraska Game and Parks, Nebraska State Patrol and Cedar County Emergency Management. Aircraft and K-9s were also used in the search.
