Enjoy Friday’s Cruise Night, All Vehicles Welcome

WAYNE – Several cruise-night events have taken place over the summer and organizers of Cruise Main in Wayne will still have two more nights for community members to enjoy the classics or just get out of the house.

The August Cruise Main in Wayne event will take place this Friday from 7 – 9 p.m. and is hosted by Tint Specialties and Specialty Rides as well as Main Street Garage.

Dustin Soden is the owner of Tint Specialties and Specialty Rides. He talked more about the night.

“It’s just something that we have put together to bring people out and get their vehicles out,” said Soden. “Enjoy and have a good time, I guess and show some stuff off. Anyone is welcome to come out.”

The summer of 2020 is the third annual Cruise Main in Wayne.

Attendance was down in July with the heat index reaching over 100 degrees but this Friday’s weather will be cooler in the upper 80s.

During the first cruise event a couple years ago, there were 25 cars. Soden added one of their cruise nights in the past saw participants take over highway 15.

“Over the past years here generally our June and August ones are our biggest ones,” Soden added. “We’ve had traffic backed up from 1st street all the way past 7th and Main. Had over 200 cars with all kinds of spectators along the street. Kind of like a parade route.”

There’s no set route, but most vehicles will travel from 1st & Main to 12th Street by Wayne State College and come back around.

The final Cruise Main in Wayne is scheduled for Friday, September 18 also from 7 – 9 p.m.

Soden mentioned anyone is welcome to participate.

“Spectators, vehicle owners, bikes, motorcycles, trucks, you name it,” Soden mentioned. “If it’s got wheels, bring it out. We just remind everybody to social distance and obey traffic laws during the cruise.”

There is no sign up to participate in Cruise Main in Wayne. For more information and past photos, like Cruise Main in Wayne on Facebook.
