Elementary Booster Looking For Volunteers During Field Days, Book Fair Continues

WAYNE – As the end of the year is quickly approaching for students at Wayne Elementary, a school group will be putting on a set of “Field Day” events.

This years 2019 Field Day will be stretched out for two-days to allow all students in K-6 a chance to get outdoors in the afternoon.

According to a release from Wayne Elementary Boosters, the event will take place on Monday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 15.

WEB is currently seeking volunteers to pass out popsicles during the popsicle station and to man the spirit gear table selling tees, decals and flags. This is a great way to help out and get to enjoy a cold treat with your student.

Students in second and third grade will take part in field day activities on May 13 from 12:15 – 1:30 p.m. while kindergarten and first graders will follow from 1:45 – 3 p.m. Then on May 15, 4th – 6th grade students will participate from 1:15 – 2:45 p.m.

Wayne Elementary school students and all are invited to join in their “Bike to School Day” event this Friday, May 10. Bike bus stops will be located at Ashley Park (Oak Drive/3rd Street), Bressler Park (Douglas/9th Streets), Sunnyview Park (Providence Road/10th Street) and East Park (East 5th Street).

In the morning, meet at the of the designated stops which will then depart at 7:30 a.m. and after school meet at 3:10 p.m. at the school bike racks on the west side for a group photo. All will then depart by 3:20 p.m. to ride back to the Bike bus stops.


Also, the Hawaiian book fair will continue from the Wayne Elementary Library. All items are buy one, get one free to kick off summer reading with shopping hours lasting from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily and extra luau hours on Thursday, May 9 from 4 – 6 p.m.
