WAYNE – Many faculty recitals will be showcased throughout the Wayne State College school year as this week’s trumpet recital will emphasize an eclectic musical mix.
According to a release from Wayne State College, an eclectic blend of music will be put on display during a Faculty Trumpet Recital by Dr. David Bohnert on Thursday, September 9 in Ley Theatre at Wayne State College.
The 7:30 p.m. performance includes piano accompaniment by Shelly Armstrong. Dr. Melissa Derechailo, horn, also joins Dr. Bohnert during the performance. Dr. Bohnert serves as director of bands at WSC.
The concert is free and open to the public and will also be livestreamed. To view the livestream, go to www.wsc.edu/watch-live. The program is accessible by selecting the event from the Music Events list at www.wsc.edu/music.
Repertoire incorporates the colorful artistry of Framed by Cecilia McDowall and the jazz-infused Concerto for Trumpet by Harry James. The fast-paced but elegant Sonata St. Marc by Tomaso Albinoni, beautifully passionate Quatre Variations sur un Theme de Scarlatti by Marcel Bitsch, and tango-inspired Fantango for Trumpet, Horn, and Piano by Kevin McKee complete the technically challenging program.
