Drunk, Drug-Impaired Driving Enforcement Concludes

LINCOLN – Over a seven-day period in mid-to-late April, Nebraska State Patrol Troopers were joined by several other law enforcement across the state for an awareness and enforcement effort.

According to a release from NSP, troopers focused on drunk and drug-impaired driving from April 18 through April 24.

Troopers and dispatchers worked overtime performing high visibility patrols as part of the effort.

A total of 15 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol and one motorist for driving under the influence of drugs were arrested.

Troopers also issued citations for speeding (287), no seat belt (10), improper child restraint (4), open alcohol container (9), minor in possession (13), driving under suspension (42) and no proof of insurance (26). Troopers performed 290 motorist assists throughout last week.

The effort included a focus on both passenger vehicles and commercial motor vehicles. Nebraska State Patrol’s portion to this effort was made possible thanks in part to grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
