Dixon County Fair Events Underway

CONCORD – Normally the Dixon County Fair is at the end of July, but this year’s date change has moved the event up to this week.

The carnival, the tractor pull and demo derby will take place over the same weekend which hasn’t happened the last couple years.

Admission is $15 for a day pass while a season pass for Thursday, July 7 – Sunday, July 10 is $40.

To get to the Dixon County Fairgrounds in Concord, drive in on Iowa Street until you come to a stop, take a right and the fairgrounds will be on your left on the east side of Maple Street.

Entry day was on Wednesday, according to Hannah Borg with the Dixon County Fair Board.

“I love check-in day,” said Borg. “It’s so fun to see all the entries come in and see all their kiddos and what they’ve been working on. Just their excitement for everything to open up on Wednesday.”

The first official day of the fair will be on Thursday, July 7 with the evening main event being the Outlaw Tractor Pull at 7 p.m.

Borg added new to the Dixon County Fair will be music on the stage Friday evening.

“So, Angie K comes on stage at 7:30 p.m.,” Borg added. “Angie K is a national recording artist. She actually recorded a music video here in the Wayne/Wakefield area last year which was really cool and has been to Wakefield a few times.”

Ben Grillet, a local country band out of Sioux City, Iowa will follow around 9 p.m. Also new this year, will be a mechanical bull in the beer garden.

Saturday’s main event will be the demo derby at 7 p.m. with more 4-H events taking place on Sunday, July 10.

Borg mentioned the Dixon County Fair is a family-friendly fair.

“The fun thing is you can see across the whole fairgrounds,” Borg mentioned. “So, kids just run around and make friends and just a safe place. We have the petting zoo, obviously the carnival, all the exhibits to see, lots of things to do.”

This year the Dixon County Fair will offer their free BBQ from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
