Deadline To Purchase Pink Flamingo Nite Tickets Ends Friday

WAYNE – Make plans to attend a breast cancer awareness event in early October from a northeast Nebraska church.

Pink Flamingo Nite returns for its fifth year and is scheduled for Thursday, October 10 at Our Savior Lutheran Church located on 5th & Main Street in Wayne. This year’s theme is “Be Flamazing”.

From 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. vendors will be open for shopping while the evening will feature a light meal, music, an inspirational speaker and more.

Kim Dunklau, who runs a committee that starts planning the event in February, said the deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, October 4.

“Tickets are available at all of the banks,” said Dunklau. “They’re at Swans Apparel, at IKT, Hair Envy, the Chamber office has tickets and also Missa Sue’s Salon in Laurel has tickets and the Pilger Bank has tickets.”

Contact Our Savior at 402-375-2899 or email oslc@oslcwayne.org as tickets are only $5.

Vendors will be open from 5 until 9:30 p.m. with the light meal being served from 5:30 until 6:45 p.m. Music will be provided by the Front Porch Pickers while a cash wine will be offered by The Jug Store with $2 from each glass being donated to breast cancer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this year’s inspirational speaker will be cancer survivor, Laura Frankl Pedersen from Sioux City, IA. Following the 7 p.m. speaker, Swans Apparel & IKT will be hosting a style show at 8 p.m.

Providence Wellness Center (PWC) will be in attendance with an information table as well as the radiology unit at the hospital sharing 3D mammogram information.

“One of our big focuses this year which is a change is that we’re doing a fundraiser,” Dunklau added. “Based more on trying to raise extra funds for it’s called Smart Curve. They’re an apparatus that attaches to the mammogram machine to hopefully make that experience for women a little more enjoyable.”

Along with door prizes taking place all night October 10, the group is focusing on women dressing in pink.

“The contest this year will be them taking photos in the photobooth and all throughout the evening and sharing that to our Facebook page,” Dunklau mentioned. “There’ll be a special drawing for those that share our page more.”

The event is sponsored by Our Savior Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA, Providence Medical Center and Pac N Save with supporting funds by Thrivent Financial.
