WAYNE – With the postponed date of the annual banquet in Wayne now a couple days away, event organizers are excited to welcome all in who have their tickets.
The January banquet date was postponed to protect the health and safety of guests, businesses, volunteers and the Wayne Community. Sunday, May 23 is the new date with this year’s theme being ‘Community & Unity’ at the Beaumont Event & Concert Hall.
Live music will be provided during a social hour which will last from 4 – 5:30 p.m. with it also be extended as attendees will be able to get in the food line on their own.
The deadline to purchase tickets was May 12.
Recipients for Business of the Year, Most Valuable Patron, Educator of the Year and Citizen of the Year will also be recognized along with Main Street Awards being officially presented. The Wayne Area Legacy Fund will also make a special announcement on who will be receiving their grant funds for 2021.
The silent auction will again raise money for scholarship funds for Wayne State College Band Day while another dessert auction will benefit the community of Wayne. The first year of dessert funds went towards American Flags that hang over Highway 35 while last year assisted with public art as the Sculpture Walk featuring several art pieces are currently being installed. This year, funds will be used as a trail enhancement as WAED is open to any ideas for off-the-trail activities that you can do hands-on.
