Current Wayne Elementary Teacher Speaks During Community Forum

WAYNE – The second of three candidates to become the Wayne junior high principal and athletic director visited Wayne Community Schools Thursday evening.

Mrs. Courtney Maas, a current teacher and coach at Wayne Community Schools, spoke to both parents and students who gathered in the commons area of the Wayne Jr/Sr high school.

Originally from O’Neil, Maas attended O’Neil St. Mary High School and went on the graduate from Briar Cliff University. Since then, Maas has lived in Wayne for the past 15 years while working at the school. For 13 of those years she has been teaching first grade.

Maas began interviewing with teachers, management and students at 12:30 p.m. before being introduced to the public by Dr. Mark Lenihan, Wayne Community Schools Superintendent. Mrs. Wendy Consoli, board of education president, asked Maas a couple questions.

After being interviewed, Maas met individually with community members attending.

Those attending the forum were given a ‘community forum feedback form’ and asked to return it or email it to Dr. Lenihan at malenih1@bluedevils.org.

The final community forum will feature a Wayne Community Schools current teacher and coach Mr. Dave Wragge on Monday, February 17. Community members are again invited to the Wayne Jr/Sr high school commons area from 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. to hear from and interact with the candidate.
